The work
You will turn problems from applied economics, econometrics, or quantitative social science into self-contained evaluation tasks. Day to day, that means framing realistic empirical questions, specifying the available data and assumptions, working through each analysis step, and writing a reference answer that explains the reasoning behind the chosen method.
What the platform screens for
The screen is likely to test whether you can defend identification assumptions, distinguish credible designs from superficially plausible ones, and identify modeling mistakes that materially change a conclusion. A master's or PhD in economics or a related quantitative social science is required, along with at least three years of full-time empirical research or analytics experience, excluding internships and school. Hands-on causal inference or econometric modeling experience is required. Comfort with Stata, R, or Python is required, as is strong written English. Preferred experience includes difference in differences, instrumental variables, regression discontinuity, synthetic control, or time series forecasting.
Working arrangement
This is a remote, independent contractor role with ongoing, project-based work. It is fully async, with no fixed schedule, and requires at least 10 hours per week. You can scale your hours up or down from week to week, with no stated maximum. The platform says there is no screen recording, keystroke monitoring, or idle timer, and payments are made weekly through Stripe.
Pay band: $115/hr
