Day-to-day work

You will turn a real piece of your own computational biology research into an evaluation task for an AI model. This involves defining a main problem and connected subproblems, providing the information needed to solve them, writing a reference solution, creating tests, specifying evaluation metrics without revealing passing thresholds, and revising the task after structured review. You may also review other researchers' submissions against a short rubric.

Scientific and technical scope

Relevant work includes genomics and bioinformatics, including single-cell and transcriptomics; systems biology and biochemical networks; structural biology and molecular biophysics; computational neuroscience; ecology and population dynamics; epidemiology and infectious disease modeling; biostatistics; biomechanics and physiological modeling; and quantitative pharmacology. You must have written your own code for an analysis pipeline or biological model. The preferred programming language is Python, but Python is not required.

What the platform screens for

The screen is likely to ask for a verifiable example of computational research you personally implemented, including the biological question, code ownership, debugging history, assumptions, validation method, and resulting artifact. Strong candidates can distinguish genuine biological difficulty from missing instructions, design tests that tolerate appropriate numerical variation, and explain how they would identify solutions that are computationally plausible but scientifically wrong. Public code, a thesis, papers, and prior data annotation, data labeling, or AI/ML evaluation experience are preferred evidence, not stated requirements.

Logistics

Pay band: $100/hr

The listing describes flexible, asynchronous independent-contractor work with no fixed weekly schedule. It estimates about two hours for an individual task, although review and revision can add time. The listing does not explicitly label the role remote, so candidates should confirm location logistics with the platform. Contractors must be able to work without visa sponsorship, students on F-1 visas including OPT or CPT are ineligible, and accepted experts undergo identity and background verification.
