The work

Coding Authors develop clinical documentation excerpts, coding questions, and realistic cases across inpatient, outpatient, and professional fee settings. Day-to-day assignments may include assigning ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes, writing rationales for sequencing and modifiers, applying Present on Admission (POA) indicators, and citing official guidance.

Evaluation work

Authors also create rubrics and test cases that show whether an AI model applied coding rules correctly, including cases with incomplete, complex, or ambiguous documentation. Existing material must be reviewed against current ICD-10-CM/PCS Official Guidelines, AHA Coding Clinic, and CPT guidance. Platform screening is likely to test whether you can support a coding decision with the controlling rule, distinguish defensible alternatives from errors, and explain how ambiguity should affect scoring.

Qualifications and logistics

An active AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), AAPC Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), or AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential is preferred. The role is a US-remote contractor engagement, and no prior AI experience is required. The listing does not disclose typical weekly hours or confirm that all work is asynchronous, and it notes both written and verbal collaboration with project stakeholders.
