You work inside a labeling interface against a written guideline document, applying labels to text, business documents, spreadsheets, or model outputs and marking whether each item is accurate, consistent, and within scope. A task might mean classifying a document by type, checking whether a model's summary of a data table is factually supported, or validating another annotator's work and writing the reason it was changed. Volume matters — projects carry both productivity and quality targets — but the thing that gets people removed from a project is inconsistency, not slowness. Expect the guideline to change mid-project as edge cases surface, and expect to be asked to re-apply the new rule retroactively.
