What the work involves

This is a single-session audio contribution task, not an ongoing engagement. You receive a short script and a step-by-step recording guide, record yourself reading the script aloud in your natural speaking voice, and upload the file through the designated submission link. Most contributors finish in under 15 minutes including setup. The recordings feed speech datasets where accent diversity matters — the value of your submission comes from it being genuinely representative of how you actually speak, not from performance or polish.

What the platform screens for

  • Authenticity of accent. AfterQuery is explicit that imitated or performed Vietnamese-accented English is disqualifying. Screens typically probe language background: where you learned English, what languages you speak at home, how long you've spoken English daily.
  • Recording hygiene. A quiet room, a phone or laptop mic held at a consistent distance, no background TV, fan hum, or street noise. You don't need studio gear — you do need a usable file on the first attempt, because there is rarely a second pass on a quick-turnaround batch.
  • Instruction-following in English. The guide is written in English and there is no hand-holding. The screen checks you can read a spec, follow it in order, and submit in the requested format without asking someone to walk you through it.

Logistics

Fully remote and asynchronous — record whenever you like within the turnaround window, which on these batches is usually a few days. No scheduled calls, no shift commitments. Pay is stated by the platform as a flat $50 for a single accepted recording submission; whether repeat batches follow depends entirely on project demand, so treat this as one-off work rather than a recurring income stream. Expect to confirm consent to dataset use of your voice as part of submission.
