What the work involves

This is a one-off audio contribution, not an ongoing engagement. You receive a short English script and a step-by-step recording guide, record yourself reading the script aloud in your natural Thai-accented English, and upload the file through AfterQuery's submission portal. Most contributors finish in under 15 minutes including setup. The recording is used as speech data — the value to the buyer is in the authenticity of the accent and the cleanliness of the audio, not in performance or polish.

What that means practically: read at your normal speaking pace, don't perform, don't neutralise your accent, and don't add an accent you don't have. Recordings that sound imitated, over-enunciated, or read in a "radio voice" are the ones that get rejected. So are files with background noise, clipping, room echo, or a phone held too close to the mouth.

What the platform screens for

  • Genuine Thai linguistic background. Screeners ask about where you grew up, where you learned English, and what language you speak at home. The claim needs to be consistent and specific.
  • Working equipment and a quiet space. A smartphone microphone is fine. A shared room with traffic noise is not.
  • Instruction-following in English. The guide is written English with no hand-holding — you need to read it and execute without back-and-forth.
  • Willingness to submit quickly. These are quick-turnaround batches; slots close.

Logistics

Fully remote and fully asynchronous — there is no live session, no interview with a human, and no scheduled call. You record on your own time and upload. Pay is a flat $50 per accepted recording submission. Additional batches sometimes follow for contributors whose first file passes quality review, but nothing is promised. Payment timing and method follow AfterQuery's standard contributor terms.
