What the work involves

You receive an image of a business slide drawn from the arts, media, or design sector — an editorial strategy page, an audience segmentation chart, a production timeline, a creative review scorecard — and rebuild it in Microsoft PowerPoint. The reconstruction has to carry all the original content faithfully: every figure, footnote, caveat, and piece of domain vocabulary. On top of that you improve it: fix the message hierarchy, choose a chart type that actually fits the data, resolve typographic and alignment noise, and make the slide read the way it would need to read in front of a client or a board.

The second half of every assignment is the log. For each slide you write out what you changed and why, and — the part most candidates underweight — what you deliberately left alone and why that choice was correct. The AI systems being trained here learn as much from a defended retention as from an improvement, so a log that only lists fixes is an incomplete deliverable.

What the platform screens for

micro1 runs an AI-led interview. Expect it to push on concrete production history: what kinds of decks you've built, for whom, at what stakes, and how you handled a slide where the underlying data was weak. It will probe design judgment with follow-ups rather than accepting a first answer — describe a chart choice and it will ask what you'd do if the client insisted on a pie. It also tests restraint: whether you can tell a genuinely bad slide from one that's merely unfashionable, and whether you know when a dense table is the right answer. No AI background is required; domain fluency and articulable reasoning are the whole test.
