What the work involves

This is application-usage data collection, not consulting. You work inside Excel on your own Mac and capture your real workflow — building a model, cleaning an export, constructing a pivot, wiring up lookups, formatting a chart for a deck — while screen captures and step annotations record what you did and why. Tasks typically come as briefs anchored to realistic finance and operations scenarios: a three-statement build, a variance bridge, a headcount roll-forward, a reconciliation between two messy extracts. The value you add is the professional's path through the problem, including the shortcuts, the keyboard-driven habits, and the corrections when a formula returns something implausible.

Because the target is macOS specifically, the Mac-side differences matter: Cmd-based shortcuts, the Mac ribbon layout, Power Query's narrower footprint on macOS, Data Analysis ToolPak availability, and the places where Mac Excel simply diverges from the Windows build. Reviewers do notice when someone is describing Windows Excel from memory.

  • Hardware and licence reality — Excel installed and openable today on a Mac, plus a display meeting the capture spec (a 14" or 16" MacBook Pro panel qualifies; a single 1080p external does not).
  • Instruction fidelity — whether you follow a task brief exactly rather than substituting your own preferred approach silently.

Pay is stated as observed on the platform at $60–70/hr for this category and is not guaranteed — rates vary by task type, review outcomes, and volume available in a given week.
